The penultimate song from our concert of Irish and Scotish songs at South Yarra Senior Centre in Fawkner Park.
Loch Lomond is a large lake located between the counties of Dunbartonshire and Stirlingshire in Scotland. The song was first published in 1841, and uses the tune of an eighteenth century Scottish song, Kind Robin Lo’s Me. There is also an Irish version called Red is the Rose, which is sometimes (wrongly) attributed to Tommy Makem, who popularised the song.
